Section 14 – Late Model Rules

Five point harness mandatory. Approved racing seat mandatory. No plastic or fiberglass seat, must be aluminum.
Minimum 2 1/2 lb working fire extinguisher. Window net mandatory.

Drive Shaft Hoop is mandatory with front and rear drive shaft hoops.

Made for racing fuel cells only. Fuel cell must not be lower than 6" off the ground. Fuel line must run below driver’s compartment. Fuel cells must be mounted in a tin can fully enclosed. Must have frame structure top and bottom with two straps or bars across the top.

Any type rear ends allowed.

Made for racing transmission allowed.

4" motor set back for tube sub cars. 6" for stock sub car. One 2 barrel or one 4 barrel carburetor. Aluminum intakes allowed. Maximum 1" carburetor spacer. No electric fuel pumps. Aluminum heads O.K.

Dry sumps o.k. Must add 100 lbs.

Front tube sub frame allowed. Rack & pinion steering O.K.

Width of wheelbase cannot exceed 85" at bottom of tire outside to outside of tire wall.

2 ½” coil overs o.k. or five-inch spring. Coil over eliminators are O.K.

Rear suspension may be 4 link or 3 link. Coil springs are not to be smaller than 5". Load bolts allowed.

Minimum wheel base 102".

A four-post cage required with four left door bars and three right door bars. Cage must be welded to frame in at least four places. Cage must be constructed of 1 1/2" steel tubing (0.90) with gussets. Steel plate 18"x24" mandatory in left door and floor plate is mandatory. No bars in front of nose piece. Foot box must be made of steel. Must have steel plate behind drivers back of 12" wide to run from top of cross bar to floor.

Mufflers mandatory. Exhaust must exit behind drivers compartment.

Rear spoiler 8" and 42" off the ground. Maximum of 3 spoiler supports made of round tubing, ¾” maximum diameter, attached to the spoiler using a piece of 1” L-angle attached to the face of the spoiler.
No sideboards. Rear deck lid max 72" wide minimum 68". Back panel may be removed. Rear bumper maximum 15" off the ground with 90 degrees on end, no blunt ends.

No wrap around fenders, no recessed body panels of any kind.
No verticals built in on the sides of the cars, on the nosepiece, rocker panels, etc. - no verticals of any kind!
No body ledges over 4” maximum, no concave C-pillars, flat or convex only.
Wheel flares can’t extend out past the sidewall of the tire and cannot extend farther back the rear of the tire.

Roof height 44" plus or minus 1" measured 10" back from windshield. Ledge of 5" maximum. Must have full front windshield from window post to window post.

Rear body width over tires 75" maximum. Maximum overhang of rear quarters from center of tire back is 48".

Aftermarket nosepiece required with a maximum of 8” of setback, measured 15” off the ground, across the complete front of the nosepiece.
Maximum front overhang is 45”, from the center of the front wheel to the farthest point forward on your nosepiece. No wedge/down force noses what-so-ever.

Minimum weight 2650 lbs. after feature with driver. 2750 lbs. with dry sump. All added weight must be securely fastened and painted white. No mercury ballast permitted. Track scales govern every car.

Wheel may be of width not to exceed 10”. Steel wheels only. Tires must be purchased from Galesburg Speedway. Hoosier 970’s. 1” Lug nuts mandatory. NO TIRE SOAK!

All cars must leave top of windshield open for division sponsor sticker. Galesburg Speedway will supply sticker.
